Dachshund memorial gifts

A dachshund is a long dog with a big personality and a shape that does not photograph the way people expect. Lying down they are a loaf; standing they are all body with a serious face at one end. The portrait only ever carries the face, so what you are really choosing is the photo — and for a dachshund the face reads best when you are level with the floor they spend their life on.

Everything here is made from a photo you already have, in Chengdu, one at a time. Nothing is posted to us.

What suits a dachshund

For this animalWhat it means for the piece
Size and weightA standard dachshund runs 16–32 lb (7–15 kg) and sits in the L tag (3cm, 9g). A miniature runs 8–11 lb (3.6–5 kg) and sits in the S (2.5cm, 6g). If you are unsure, the L is the safer fit for a standard and the S for a mini.
The coatSmooth, long, or wirehaired. A smooth coat is the easiest to read; a long coat needs the ruff left in. They shed moderately, so a fur keepsake takes a normal pinch.
The photoGet to the floor. A dachshund's head is low and close to the ground; a photo from standing height cuts the body off and leaves a floating face.

Made from one photo

Two waiting times, and we do not average them: pieces made from scratch take about 15 days to make and then 10–14 days tracked — roughly four weeks door to door. Ready-made pieces arrive in 8–12 days.

Before you order: the photo

If the only photo you have is an old one from years ago, that is still the right photo to start with. Send it before you order and we will tell you what it can and cannot hold — that conversation is free, and it is the point at which a portrait can still change.

Questions people ask

Standard or miniature — which tag?
Standard: the L tag (3cm). Miniature: the S (2.5cm). If you are unsure, the L suits a standard and looks oversized on a mini, so go by the dog's weight.
Do you need a photo of the long body?
No. The portrait is the head; the body is why you know it is a dachshund, but the face is what we work from.
The coat in the photo looks darker than it really is.
Phone cameras flatten a red or black-and-tan dachshund. Send the photo and say the real colour, and we will hold it in the design.

Also by animal

If the piece matters more than the breed, start at memorial keepsakes by animal. For other dogs the size guidance barely changes; for cats it does — see the cat page. Everything we make is on the shop page.
