What suits a labrador retriever

Size and weight	25–36kg puts a lab in the XL tag — 3.5cm, 12g. On a working line dog with a thick neck, 12g disappears; on a small bitch the L (3cm, 9g) is enough.
The coat	Double coat, sheds in sheets twice a year and steadily in between. That makes the fur keychain practical: there is always enough, and you will not miss a pinch.
The photo	Black lab: shoot against a lighter background, never on grass in shade. Chocolate and yellow: shade, not sun. A lab in direct sun loses the brow entirely.

Before you order: the photo

Daylight, no flash. A flash on a black coat produces two eyes and nothing else — no muzzle, no ear shape.
Turn the dog side-on by 20 degrees. A dead-straight frontal shot flattens the skull; a slight angle keeps the stop between the eyes.
Head and shoulders. The portrait carries the face. Full-body garden shots leave the head too small to hold the expression.
Mouth closed if you can. An open mouth reads as a black hole at 3cm. If every photo is the happy open-mouth one, send it anyway — we will tell you what it holds.

If the only photo is the one on your phone lock screen, that is the one to send. Ask before you order and we will say honestly whether it is enough — that is the point at which nothing has been cut yet.

Two waiting times, and we do not average them: pieces made from scratch take about 15 days to make and then 10–14 days tracked — roughly four weeks door to door. Ready-made pieces arrive in 8–12 days.

My lab was black and every photo looks like a shadow. What now?

Send the best two. If neither holds the muzzle we will say so before you pay, and suggest either a different photo or the leather portrait, which has more room for shade.

Which piece do people usually choose?

The brass collar tag — it goes back on the collar, then onto keys. The fur keychain is second, because a lab gives you the fur without trying.

Can you do two labs on one piece?

Yes, on the leather portrait in the 12 × 8cm size. Two portraits on one brass tag does not work; they get too small.
