Pet keepsake questions, answered with real numbers

The questions people actually type into Google before ordering — what it costs, how long it takes, whether it lasts, and how it compares to the cheaper options. Short answers, specific figures, no sales language. For policy detail, the full FAQ goes further.

How much does a pet keepsake cost here?

Everyday pieces start at $16.99. The custom work most people come for runs $19.99 to $44.99 — a photo pendant is $34.99, a brass portrait tag $34.99, a hand-tooled leather plaque $139. A hand-painted oil portrait is quoted by size and starts at $329. Tracked worldwide delivery is included in all of those prices; there is no separate shipping line at checkout.

Is a custom pet keepsake worth the money?

It depends what you are comparing it to. Against a printed photo pendant from a marketplace, no — those cost a third as much and look fine for a year. Against something you will still have in ten years, the difference is that this is a piece worked by hand from your photo, and you see a photo of the finished piece before it ships, so you are not gambling on the likeness.

How is this different from buying on Etsy or Amazon?

Three concrete differences. One: you get a photo of your actual finished piece before it ships, and can cancel for a full refund at that point — most marketplace sellers ship whatever comes out. Two: nothing is mass-produced; one person makes your order after you place it. Three: nothing is mailed to us — no fur, no ashes, no collar goes through customs.

Will the portrait fade, scratch or rub off?

The portrait is worked into the metal rather than printed on top, so it does not peel or wash off. Two honest caveats. The surface is polished, so a fine portrait reads as a lighter line than a bold one — over years of daily wear a polished face can soften slightly. And brass darkens with age by design; if you want it bright again, a quick polish brings it back.

Can I wear it in the shower or swimming?

The solid metal pieces are fine in water — they do not rust and do not need polishing. Leather is not: take a leather plaque or a leather-backed piece off before you shower or swim, and keep it out of a pool. Brass survives water but darkens faster if it stays wet, so dry it with a cloth rather than leaving it damp.

How close will it look to my pet?

It is a portrait worked from your photo, not a photo printed on metal — so it reads as a drawing of your pet, not a photograph. What carries the likeness is the eyes and the shape of the ears or muzzle. If your pet had a notch in one ear, one eye, or a very flat face, tell us when you order: those details are what stop it looking like a generic animal.

How long does it take from order to delivery?

Plan on 2 to 3 weeks in total. Making takes about 2 weeks for most pieces (a painting takes 6 to 8 weeks), then international tracked delivery is 6 to 12 days. You see the QC photo of your finished piece before it ships, so the clock only starts on shipping once you have approved it.

Can you make one for a cat, horse, bird or rabbit?

Yes — and the differences are real, not just wording. A cat's pad is smaller so a print wants a lighter press; a horse's tail hair is long enough to show; a bird has no fur at all, so a feather or a voice recording is the equivalent; a rabbit leaves fine hair that holds well in a small chamber. Each species page says what actually works for that animal.
